TO CREEP

Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians.
It originates from the latin word 'herp' which translates to 'to creep'.

Carolus Linnaeus, the Swedish naturalist who wrote Systema Naturae in 1758, unjustly described reptiles as
"foul and loathsome animals... with doubtful lungs and double penis".

He gave amphibians an equally unflattering description calling most of them
"abhorrent, because of their cold body, pale color ... offensive smell... and their Creator has not exterted His powers to create very many of them."

Reptiles and amphibians often get a bad wrap, which is too bad because they are really pretty incredible animals.
If you aren't already a super herp fan I hope that I can at least get you to appreciate them more!
